I am working on a PhD in theology (historical) at Wycliffe College, Toronto. I am a a priest in the Anglican Church of Canada. Canonically resident in the Diocese of Huron, but “on loan” to the Diocese of Toronto where I will serve while I work on my doctorate.
My theological area of study/interest/love/passion is ecclesiology; more specifically the relationship between authority, decision-making and mission in the Church. On that front I quite enjoy reading and writing about: late medieval, early modern and modern theology, polity, metaphysics, ecclesiology and mission, 15th century conciliarity, Augustine, Aquinas, Nicholas of Cusa, Richard Hooker, John Donne, Henri de Lubac, Wolfhart Pannenberg (even though I don’t agree with him he throws some very interesting things out there), the history of pneumatology, Anglican theology, ecumenism, missionary renewal, the Prayer Book, the Covenant Agreement and our Church in general. I suppose I would call myself an Anglican who wants to plant churches and teach historical theology.
I love trail running, bouldering, road biking and taking road trips across the US (although I live in Canada right now). When I write, I have to listen to one of the following bands: Radiohead, Old Crow Medicine Show, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, James Brown, Motown, The Killers, Kanye West, The Streets (earlier stuff ...2003-4), Arcade Fire, Mogwai, Ben Harper, The Tragically Hip, The Deep Dark Woods, alt-country (ala Ryan Bingham, Tom Waits), or anything that has a lot of cello in it.
